The Ageing Well Card
The Ageing Well Card is an initiative run by the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales supporting the development of age-friendly communities.
The Ageing Well Card supports older people to maintain their independence and continue to do the things that matter to them. The cards contain simple messages that can be used to let people know that they might need a little help or support and are provided in a distinctive and practical travelcard wallet.
The initiative is based on the Better and Safe Journey schemes developed by First Group, and designed to complement other national and regional schemes such as the Pembrokeshire Passport and the Orange Wallet. We would like to thank First Group for all of their assistance and support, as well as all the groups and individuals around Wales who worked with us to help develop the cards and messages.
Where can the card be used?
The cards can be used anywhere where people want to ask for a little help. Businesses and organisations that want to support the initiative can contact us for promotional materials, which include window stickers, posters and leaflets, to let customers know they recognise the cards. They can be particularly useful in shops, pharmacies, pubs, restaurants, banks and on public transport.
