As part of her work to drive up the quality of health and social care in Wales, the Commissioner has called for greater integration between health and social care services, essential to ensure that older people can receive the services they need when they need them.

As part of her work to drive up the quality of health and social care in Wales, the Commissioner has called for greater integration between health and social care services, essential to ensure that older people can receive the services they need when they need them.

The Commissioner has welcomed the recent focus on improving integration by Health Boards and Local Authorities, which has included the publication of ‘Statements of Intent for Integration of Health and Social Care for Older People with Complex Needs'.

The Commissioner has reviewed these statements from an older person’s perspective and has provided Health Boards and Local Authorities and the Welsh Government with feedback that makes clear where improvements are still needed and what success would look like.
