The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales works closely with a large number of organisations in order to achieve its objectives. Below is a list of key partnerships and the role that they play in what we do.
Age UK and Age Cymru
We refer to Age UK and Age Cymru (in Wales) for appropriate information and advice across a wide range of issues.
Care and Repair Cymru
We refer older people to Care and Repair Cymru for information and support to maintain healthy, independent lives in their own homes.
Carers Wales
We work with Carers Wales to refer older carers for advice and support and to highlight the challenges facing older people.
Children’s Commissioner for Wales
We work in partnership with the Children’s Commissioner for Wales as a similar independent Commission promoting equality and human rights.
Citizens Advice Cymru
Our relationship with Citizens Advice Cymru means that we refer older people to them for advice on legal concerns and wider issues.
Consumer Focus Wales
We refer older people to Consumer Wales Focus to ensure that their interests as consumers are met.
Institute of Welsh Affairs (IWA)
The Commission is working with the Institute of Welsh Affairs to promote a debate on the challenges and opportunities of ageing and an ageing society.
National Partnership Forum for Older People Wales
The Commissioner has observer status on this forum and has developed effective partnerships with individual members.
The Pension Service
We work with The Pension Service to encourage older people to claim the financial benefits to which they are entitled. This partnership has enabled us to be in contact with older people who may be missing out on these benefits and increase awareness of the Commission.
Prime Cymru
Our partnership with Prime Cymru promotes older people as employees and entrepreneurs.
Wales TUC
We work alongside Wales TUC to promote equality in the workplace and positive attitudes towards ageing.
Welsh Local Government Association
We work with local strategy coordinators, older people’s champions and relevant departments to ensure older people are involved in local decision making.
