  • Your views on our future direction

    25.10.12

We are currently developing the Commission’s Framework for Action 2013-17, which will guide our work over the next four years. It is founded on the views of older people, as well as those that support and represent them, that have been gathered through extensive and ongoing engagement across Wales during the past year. We believe that the four themes within our Framework for Action underpin a good quality life; a life that has value, meaning and purpose.

  • 2012/13 Work Programme

    20.9.12

For the first time, we have published the Commission’s work programme, which lays out 50 specific pieces of work that will be taken forward during the next 18 months

  • Strategic Plan 2010-2013

    01.1.10

My guiding principle as the independent Older People’s Commissioner is to listen to all older people across Wales and those who work with them. Older people and many organisations worked hard for the establishment of a Commissioner with unique powers to benefit people aged 60 and above.

  • Older People's Commission Interim Strategic Plan 2009 - 2010

    01.1.09

This plan will set out the initial purpose and direction of the Older People’s Commission, recognising its unique situation in its set up phase and the need to evolve and develop our thinking over the coming months.

3.2 Annual Reports

  • Driving Change for Older People: Impact and Reach 2012-2018

    16.5.18

I often find it hard to believe that I took up post as Older People’s Commissioner for Wales six years ago, in June 2012. The years have simply flown by and I have been proud to stand up and speak out on behalf of older people across Wales as their independent voice and champion. During the past six years, I have met and spoken with thousands of older people across Wales, who have generously shared so much with me about their lives, their experiences, and their hopes and wishes for the future. The voices of older people in all of their diversity have guided and shaped the wide range of work I have undertaken as Commissioner during the past six years, which is set out in this Legacy Report, which is being published alongside my annual Impact and Reach Report.

  • Impact and Reach Report 2017-18

    16.5.18

Since I took up post as Commissioner in 2012, I have met and spoken with thousands of older people who have generously shared so much with me – about their lives, their experiences, their hopes and wishes for the future. This year, as in previous years, these voices and experiences have continued to guide and shape my work as Commissioner and have been a constant and important reminder of why it’s just so important that we get things right for older people.

  • Impact & Reach Report 2015-16: Driving Change, Improving Lives

    06.6.16

Today I publish my latest Impact and Reach Report, which sets out the wide range of work I undertook during 2015-16 to drive change on behalf of older people across Wales.

  • Impact & Reach Report 2014-15

    10.6.15

Today I launched my third impact and reach report, ‘Making a Difference for Older People in Wales’, which highlights the action I have taken on behalf of older people during 2014-15, as their independent voice and champion, to drive forward the change they have told me that they want and need to see.

  • Driving Change for Older People: Impact and Reach Report 2013-14

    04.6.14

The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales has today published ‘Driving Change for Older People’, her second impact and reach report, which highlights the action she has taken during 2013-14 to make Wales a good place to grow older.

  • Standing Up, Speaking Out: Impact and Reach Report 2012-13

    30.6.13

On 26 June 2013, Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, Sarah Rochira, launched her first Impact and Reach Report ‘Standing Up, Speaking Out’, which highlights the action she has taken since she took up post in June 2012 to March 2013, her first 9 months as Commissioner, to drive forward the change that older people have told her they want and need to see.

  • Annual Review 2008/2009

    01.10.09

The role of Older People’s Commissioner for Wales was created with a range of powers to help improve the lives of older people in Wales. This is the first Commission of its kind in the world and we are pioneering work that can be followed internationally. Many groups and individuals worked hard to bring this independent post into being, and the Commissioner’s powers reflect their serious intent to challenge the barriers and discrimination that face older people.

  • First Report of the Older People's Commissioner for Wales 2008

    01.10.08

The Commission launched Coming of Age, its first report to the First Minister for Wales, Rhodri Morgan on 1st October 2008, on the UN International Day for Older People. The Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Act 2006 requested the publication of a report at this stage, but as the Older People’s Commission for Wales has not been in existence for a full year, the report does not contain the typical financial and corporate statements you would expect to see in an Annual Report.
